Meet the Developers (Part 4)

Thank you for your continued support for PUBG MOBILE! Part 4 of the Meet the Developers event has been completed in various countries!

This time, we had an in-depth discussion on gameplay, security, the system, and more. The developers also responded seriously to the sharp questions posed by players on gameplay issues.

After the event, the developers quickly prepared improvement plans based on everyone's comments. And many of the features you're looking forward to will be released in the near future!

The detailed responses provided during the event are categorized into the following 4 parts.

Part 1: Gameplay

Q: It's very hard to find a good firearm on Erangel, and the current game pace seems a little too slow. I hope that the overall amount of resources in the game can be increased.

A: The game's pace has always been of great concern to us, and we're already working on improving the pace and supplies available on Erangel. We hope that it'll bring everyone a more intense and exciting experience.

Q: There's too much grass on Livik. Can it be reduced?

A: Thank you for your suggestion. We've been continuously making improvements to the map, and in the next version of Livik, the overall vegetation will be reduced slightly.

Q: I hope to see some changes to recall locations and add more recall locations.

A: Recall has always been a very popular game mechanic, and the idea of a random recall location seems brilliant. We're currently in the midst of discussing this and there's a chance for this to be implemented in the future.

Q: I hope there'll be more Easter Eggs, such as the Spider-Man Crate.

A: We're glad that you like the Easter Eggs! We'll continue to add various Easter Eggs into the game, and the next version of Livik will have new Easter Eggs too, so look forward to it!

Q: I hope we can see more interactive items in different places (water, inside buildings, etc.)

A: This is a great suggestion and a highly-imaginative one. Currently, we have plans to add interactive items to different parts on Erangel, including in the water. So stay tuned!

Q: I hope there'll be bosses we can fight like the one in Spider-Man Mode (similar to PvE).

A: I'm sure everyone loves to fight boss villains! Therefore, we believe that there'll be more PvE content released in subsequent themed modes. So be sure to challenge them.

Q: The Web Shooter is excellent and I hope there'll be more items like this, but there's no way knowing when sounds are coming from above you. For example, with the Web Shooter, some players might approach from above, leaving you unable to react in time.

A: We too really enjoyed Spider-Man! We know that the Web Shooter is a very fun item and we'll continue to improve it, and once it's satisfactory, we're sure it'll return to the battleground!

Q: The new crate is great as it adds to the experience and tactical intensity of the game. However, it's currently not very rewarding and I hope that it can contain better items so that more players will fight for it.

A: Thank you very much for your suggestion! The crates are meant to be a nice surprise to reward exploration, and we don't think it should attract as much attention and conflict as an airdrop. We hope that this small surprise can add to players' enjoyment!

Q: I hope there'll be more special scenes matching the volcanic eruptions.

A: We're glad that everyone enjoys Livik's volcanic eruptions, and we're already considering adding this to the next Livik release, so stay tuned!

Q: The damage indicator is very good and I really hope that it can be added to Classic maps, or added with a setting so that players can turn it on/off according to their preferences.

A: Though many players like damage indicators, there are also conflicting views about it. So, for a better gaming experience, we'll carefully consider this feature. Who knows? You might just see this feature in Classic Mode soon!

Q: Can we have more in-game shops?

A: It's true that being able to purchase equipment in-game is a very interesting experience, so we've increased the number of in-game Supply Shops. We believe everyone can now shop more easily and get the equipment of their choice!

Q: Can you exclude airdrop equipment from in-game shops?

A: We think that your suggestion is superb and airdrop equipment should be obtained in a more competitive manner. So, we've now removed them from in-game Supply Shops. If anyone's looking to own airdrop equipment, please go fight for them yourself!

Q: Is it possible to request for shop discounts where certain firearms are discounted in specific shops?

A: What an intriguing idea! We'll be sure to include discount shops in subsequent updates so everyone can purchase items at discounted prices in the future.

Q: Can you add fuel tanks as a purchasable item in the shop?

A: Sure thing! We'll add fuel to the shop in the next version, so nobody will have to worry about fuel anymore!

Part 2: Security

Q: Can you include more countermeasures to detect cheaters?

A: We've always maintained a zero-tolerance attitude towards cheaters. However, anti-cheating measures become outdated as new ways of cheating are found. To combat such malicious behavior, we're now extending Merit penalties to cover more situations. Now, whenever players detect cheaters, they can easily report them top assist us in penalizing them together.

Q: It feels like there are less cheaters in Version 1.8, but there are still players who publicly sell cheat software in-game. Therefore, I hope you can increase the ban penalty when these players are reported.

A: As a matter of fact, we've strengthened our detection capabilities many times now to identify new and existing code words used to sell cheats. The cheating ads that you're currently seeing in-game must not be covered by our algorithm. So, please continue to report them and we'll do our best to review them as soon as we can to maintain a fair gaming environment for everyone.

Q: There were some players who offended me with sensitive topics such as religion and I reported them, but I feel like nothing was done about it.

A: We do not tolerate hate speech or insults of any kind. We've previously implemented the mute function and will soon implement a muted display feature as well. That way, when you report a player, they'll not only be muted on the chat platform, it will also clearly indicate that they're muted.

Q: I hope that the Merit system will also include behavior such as deliberately not helping teammates.

A: There are clear conditions for detecting malicious behaviors such as harming teammates, leaving the team while on Spawn Island, quitting a match, and idling, and we'll definitely deduct Merit from players that exhibit this behavior. Unfortunately, deliberately not helping teammates is something that's not well-defined yet, and we're worried that it will result in too many false positives. However, this is something we'll continue to keep in mind.

Q: There's a bug in the Security Center, and some random data appears above your head when making a report.

A: Thank you so much for bringing this up to us, and we hope that you can provide us with a screenshot of the issue and how to replicate it so that we can fix this quickly!

Part 3: Tournaments

Q: I'd like something permanent and special to display on my account after participating in a tournament.

A: We'd like to treat you to something special too! We'll be upgrading the tournaments in the near future and may add more Career content soon, so stay tuned!

Part 4: System

Q: Can players with a big tier difference play ranked matches together but with less points?

A: The tiers were strictly put in place to allow players to enjoy a better gaming experience. And we've already relaxed the tier restrictions in the new version: allowing players from Gold–Diamond to team up freely. However, we still want to maintain a better match quality for higher tier players. For now, we'll continue to observe the new version and optimize the tier differences accordingly.

Q: Other than Titles, the PC version also provides background images, and I hope this can also be added to the mobile version so that players have more to look forward to.

A: Of course we'd like to provide you with something unique! And I believe we'll have a new system in the near future, so stay tuned!

That's all for this episode. If you have any other suggestions, please mention them in the next Dev Talk: Meet the Developers event. Our developers will answer your questions like always and make further improvements based on your requests.

See you next time!
